About the event
Snake Shield is a company focused on training your dogs to avoid poisonous snakes that are native to Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. The three breeds of snakes used by Snake Shield are Rattle Snakes, Water Moccasins (Cotton Mouth), and Copperheads. Your dog will be introduced to a live snake that has either been defanged and mouth secured shut or in a small enclosure. This allows your dog to see, hear, and most importantly smell the snake. After your dog is aware of the snake, negative reinforcement is delivered through an electric collar. Your dog will quickly associate the electrical shock with the presence of the snake. Now believing the snake was the cause of the pain, your dog will learn to avoid the snake in the future.
The cost is $75 per dog. You will need to be able to secure your dog(s) until the handler comes and retrieves your dog. That can be in the car, in a kennel, or even as simple as on a leash. You can leave as soon as your dog is finished or stay and watch.Â
